How will I know my thermistor needs to be replaced?

The termistor for an air conditioner makes automatic adjustments so the room can be kept at the correct temperature. As temperature conditions change, the thermistor signals the control board to adjust the compressor and blower speeds to compensate for the change. You can check to see if the thermistor is working properly by using a multimeter to test for continuity. If the thermistor does not have continuity, or if the resistance of the thermistor does not change with a change in temperature, you may need to replace the thermistor.

Grilles come in a variety of styles, one that will work best with your property. Allied carries all grille types from our list of manufacturers including extruded aluminum, stamped aluminum, one piece molded, and architectural. Your Allied Sales Rep can help you find the right one and have it on its way to you in a snap.

A wall sleeve will is a necessity for both PTACs and TTWs units to perform at peak efficiency. Your air conditioner will slide easily into the sleeve once it is put in place. When setting a PTAC sleeve, remember to to the following:

  • Must be level from left-to-right.
  • Must be level from front-to-back (1/4 bubble slope to rear is acceptable if rear drains are used. Case must be level if internal drain is used).
  • Should extend at least 1/4″ to the outside for caulking.
  • Must be sealed/caulked to outside wall on all four (4) sides.
  • Should be sealed/caulked to the inside wall on all four (4) sides.

One of the most efficient ways to accomplish cost reductions is with a wireless energy management system. A leader in the market is Amana’s Eden System featuring a DigiLink controller. It combines the benefits of reduced energy consumption with improved unit maintenance and allows for an easy installation. The Eden System assists hotels, nursing homes, schools, or any building using a PTAC to manage their in-room use.
