Energy Management Systems

The Covid crisis has taken a toll on the hospitality industry. Many hotels, motels, resorts, and extended stays are fighting for their business survival. Even when travel returns “normal,” the effects of this pandemic will be felt for years to come. This is forcing businesses to look at every possible avenue to both increase revenues will decrease costs.

One of the most efficient ways to accomplish cost reductions is with a wireless energy management system. A leader in the market is Amana’s Eden System featuring a DigiLink controller. It combines the benefits of reduced energy consumption with improved unit maintenance and allows for an easy installation. The Eden System assists hotels, nursing homes, schools, or any building using a PTAC to manage their in-room use.

Amana’s Eden Wireless Energy Management System

The Eden system can help lower your energy costs by as much as 35%. Besides reducing costs, employees can view each PTAC on a computer and monitor their performance, temperature, unit settings, and check for maintenance issues. All PTACs in one building can be seen from a single interface on your computer. Some of these other benefits include:

  • Automatic emails for PTAC maintenance.
  • Enhanced diagnostics and full unit details on every PTAC
  • Monitor up to 250 PTACs wirelessly with one interface

The Eden System is simple to install and does not require any wiring or an electrician. The system uses a DigiLink controller to link the PTACs to one managing system. Allied Appliance provides tutorial videos to show how easy they are to install and program. There are three peripheral components to installing the Eden system:

  • The Eden Wireless Remote Thermostat – battery-powered and capable of wireless communication with PTAC. The PTAC and the thermostat connect with a button’s click; no wiring is needed and works in sync to display accurate temperature.
  • The Eden Wireless Antenna – installed on the inside of the PTACs with a snap-in connector. Allows the PTAC to communicate wirelessly with other devices in the room and to the Eden Network.
  • The Eden Occupancy Sensor and Door Switch Combo Device – this device is an infrared sensor that determines when the room is occupied. If the room is unoccupied, the PTAC has a program that turns on set-backs, saving energy.
